Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of one (1) year roofing experience, including concrete tile, clay tile, and composition shingle
- Ability to drive a vehicle during the normal course of business
- Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check
- Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of standard roofing procedures, methods, materials, systems, and buildings codes as they relate to the roofing process
- Basic carpentry skills as they relate to roofing; plywood and shiplap replacement
- Ability to use a tape measure, simple hand tools including a hammer, utility knife, chalk line, broom, and other cleaning tools effectively
- Professional appearance and customer interaction
- Have a strong work ethic, a high level of craftsmanship/workmanship with strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions, learn quickly, and know when to ask questions
- Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Possess strong mechanical and construction skills
- Have excellent verbal communication and documentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work safely in a branch/warehouse/rooftop environment
- Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine accuracy of work
- Ability to interact with co-workers and participate in meetings
- Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)
- Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces which requires frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance
- Ability to work in confined spaces which require kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including but not limited to: excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environment, and humidity
- Ability to frequently utilize hand functions requiring fine motor skills including but not limited to: fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching
Responsibilities
- The Roofing Installer will be responsible for working closely with the Roofing Foreman, Branch Construction Supervisor, and installation teams
- The Roofing Installer will be responsible for assisting with roof projects and repairs
- The Roofing Installer is a working field position that works with a team of 3 to 6 members
- The Roofing Installer will be cross-trained as a PV Solar Installer as well
- Responsible for assisting in the successful re-roof and repair of clients' roofs including but not limited to:
- Safely load and unload roofing materials from the vehicle to the roof
- Ensure there are adequate materials and equipment to safely and efficiently complete projects
- Lift roofing materials onto roof using pulleys or ladder
- Safely remove existing roofing from home
- Clear debris from roof
- Install new roofing composition, tile, and single-ply roofing according to manufacturer specifications
- Repair and/or replace damaged sheathing, starter, fascia, and rafters
- Locate and repair cracked tiles
- Fill in missing tiles
- Clear out gutters and drains
- Locate and fix leaks
- Repair damage caused by storms and high winds
- Assist the Roofing Foreman with completing projects within established guidelines and timeframes
- Ensure attention to detail with an emphasis on safety, quality, customer service, and productivity
- Effectively learn all aspects of the construction workflow of the project to drive productivity
- Help maintain project documentation and photo requirements
- Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA standards related to roofing procedures and enforce safety practices and standards
- Work within a positive working dynamic on the installation crew and with branch co-workers; Analyze and resolve worker problems and recommend solutions
